NEA Part 3 - Media Theories Research

In this post i am going to be looking at the different media theories that there are. Therefore, in my own media text i can add media theories into them. Using the Blumler and Katz theory, we could argue that the target audience would buy this magazine in order to seek information or personal identity. For example, we may find a particular person that we are interested in and can relate to. Using the Blumler and Katz theory, this magazines shows the 4 basic needs in the uses and gratifications theory. Personal relationships: This Vogue magazine advertises fashion to the targeted audience. It allows the reader to acknowledge the latest beauty tips, lifestyle and fashion trends that are popular which they can then talk about with their friends. Surveillance: The audience has an inside view on the lives of celebrities. In this certain magazine, readers have the latest news on Kendall Jenner's social media success. Diversion: Working women can escape the stress from work an...

NEA Part 2 - Intertextuality in the media

In this post, i am going to be looking at how media texts add intertextuality and the meaning behind it. From this, i can add my own into my media text. How and why is intertextuality employed in 2 media products and what effect does this have in their intended audience? The intertextuality of this media text changes the way the audience reads it as a visual text. The media text shows one of the most famous black man carrying a white woman. We can also see similarities between the magazine, a well known image of King Kong carrying off Fay Wray and as well as an army enlist poster. From the intertextuality we can understand the true meaning of having the models positioned in that way. The clothes of the models are exactly the same as well as the position that they are in.  How and why is intertextuality employed in 2 media products and what effect does this have in their intended audience? In this magazine, we can see a resemblance to Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn...

NEA BRIEFS

K: The requirements for each of the briefs set by OCR. U: How to approach the chosen brief, including writing the statement of intent. BAT: Choose a brief and start planning what to write in the statement of intent. CO: Use media terminology (all areas of the theoretical framework) in your written and verbal communication. I chose Brief 1, where we have to create a front cover and a double page spread article for an informative educational magazine aimed at an audience of 10-13 year old.  While working on this, i want to develop more of my Photoshop skills. I want to learn how to add different parts of pictures into one to form an image altogether that fits my magazine theme. I already know the basic outline of a magazine and how it should be laid out. I know a few photography skills so i can apply that to my magazine when choosing images to add into it. ——————————- Mind Map created by Ellie Chan with GoConqr ———————————
